Erectile Dysfunction (ED)

Erectile dysfunction (ED) occurs when a human male is unable to achieve or maintain an adequate erection for sexual intercourse. Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH)

Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a medical condition where the blood pressure within the pulmonary arteries becomes abnormally elevated. This increases the strain on the heart to pump blood through the lungs and can lead to fatigue and/or shortness of breath due to inadequate oxygen being supplied to the body. Cenforce D lowers pulmonary arterial blood pressure, thus helping adults with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) breathe easier and increase the quality of life.

Raynaud's Phenomenon (Off-Label)

Raynaud's phenomenon is characterized by the narrowing of blood vessels (vasoconstriction) in the hands and feet (extremities). This condition typically occurs due to cold or stress, resulting in changes in color, numbness, and pain. Cenforce D allows more blood flow to the peripheral parts of the body by facilitating vasodilation, thus reducing the occurrence and intensity of attacks of Raynaud's syndrome and improving the performance and functionality of the extremities.

High-altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE) prevention (Off-Label)

High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE) is described as the collection of fluid within the lungs when the individual is located in a high-altitude region, which may lead to difficulty breathing, particularly while performing any physical exercises, and can also result in excessive tiredness. Cenforce D medication is used to reduce the pressure on the pulmonary arteries and prevent fluid accumulation within the lungs.

Dosage Information

1. Erectile Dysfunction (ED)

Recommended dose:

• 50 mg of Sildenafil, about 30–60 minutes before intended sexual activity.

Maximum dose limit:

• 50 mg of Sildenafil in 24 hours.

Missed dose instructions:

• Missed dose instructions do not apply as Cenforce D is consumed on an on-demand basis for this indication.

Overdose instructions:

• In case of an overdose, patients must immediately seek medical attention. 
• If any symptoms like severe hypotension, dizziness, fainting, vision disturbances, or priapism occur, patients must immediately contact the emergency care department.

2. Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH)

Recommended dose:

• 20 mg of Sildenafil, orally three times a day (Keep a gap of at least 6-8 hours between two consecutive doses.)

Maximum dose limit:

• 60 mg of Sildenafil in one day.

Missed dose instructions:

• In case of a missed dose, take the missed dose as soon as remembered. 
• If the time is close to the next dose, skip that dose. 
• Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose instructions:

• In case of an overdose, patients must immediately seek medical attention.

3. Raynaud’s Phenomenon (Off-label)

Recommended dose:

• 25 mg of Sildenafil to be taken orally 2-3 times a day

Maximum dose limit:

• 75 mg of Sildenafil in one day

Missed dose instructions:

• In case of a missed dose, take the missed dose as soon as remembered.
• If the time is close to the next dose, skip that dose. 
• Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose instructions:

• In case of an overdose, patients must immediately seek medical attention.

• 50 mg of Sildenafil to be taken orally every 8 hours

Maximum dose limit:

• 150 mg of Sildenafil in one day

• If the time is close to the next dose, skip that dose.
• Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

How Cenforce D Works

The main mechanism responsible for reactions like erection formation or the working of the pulmonary arteries is the NO-cGMP pathway. Under normal conditions, nitric oxide (NO) is released into the surrounding tissue, which triggers the release of cyclic GMP (cGMP) levels. cGMP relaxes smooth muscle tissue in the blood vessels and facilitates increased blood flow to the corpora cavernosa (in ED) or the pulmonary artery (in PAH). When this pathway is impaired, there is a decreased blood flow through the blood vessels and less efficient function of the associated organ.

To prevent excessive dilation and blood flow, an enzyme called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) is released as a feedback response to the NO-cGMP pathway. This enzyme breaks down the cGMP pathway, thus inhibiting the further reactions of the cascade. This allows the body to return to its normal resting state. In some individuals, the effect of PDE-5 is exaggerated or premature, which hampers the normal functioning of the associated tissues.

The active ingredient in Cenforce D is sildenafil, a selective inhibitor of PDE5. By inhibiting PDE5, sildenafil prevents the breakdown of cGMP, prolonging smooth muscle relaxation and increasing blood flow through the blood vessels, thus enhancing the normal functioning of the organs. In ED, it facilitates prolonged erections, while in PAH, it improves the blood flow through the pulmonary arteries, thus facilitating better heart function.

• Cenforce D is contraindicated with nitroglycerin and isosorbide medications. It must also be avoided to be consumed with Alpha-blockers, antihypertensives, CYP3A4 inhibitors, and other PDE-5 inhibitors.
• There is no research about the effects of Sildenafl in women. Hence, females must avoid consuming this drug on a regular basis.
